Improv skólinn (english: The Improv School) was founded by Dora Johannsdottir.

She studied improv and sketch writing at The Upright Citizens Brigade in New York from 2013-2016 and at The Second City in Chicago in 2017.

​

Dora founded Improv Iceland, Iceland´s first long-form improv theater company in 2015. They have since then had weekly shows at Þjóðleikhúskjallarinn.

​

Dora taught her first improv class in Iceland in 2013 and since then over 2000 people have attended these popular classes.

​

Classes are open to everyone from ages 18 and up (oldest student so far was 80 years old). No experience in theater or performing is necessary, everyone can improvise!

​

Most unions subsidise or give full grants to their members for improv classes.
